Welcome To Old College

Old College is one of the oldest and most famous of all the University Colleges in The City. It has been standing for almost six hundred years and has seen some of the brightest and boldest characters in history pass through its illustrious courtyards.

Founded in Medieval times by a mysterious secret organisation, Old College has provided world-class education throughout the centuries. The two halves of the College are divided by The River, over which stretches the ancient and celebrated Bridge, where the footfalls of generations of students and Fellows alike still echo across the waters.

Old College is currently under the watchful eye of The Master, who leads The Fellowship and servants in constantly striving to maintain the high standards that have forever been associated with this prestigious seat of learning.

I am the Deputy Head Porter. Here in The Porters’ Lodge, my Porters and I oversee the comings and goings, the ups and downs and the ins and outs of everything and everyone at Old College. As the first female to hold the title in the entire history of Old College, I have a lot to prove to a lot of people. And none more so than our brave and fearless leader, Head Porter.

Welcome to Old College. Come in, take a look around, make yourself at home. And if anyone can work out what on earth is going on here, please do let me know…

  1. Oh my God I just watched your Eminem Without Me tribute. That was ridiculously good. Made me smile. You really threw yourself into it. Such a fun song to adapt too. Well done.

    1. Wow thanks! It was a lot of fun to do and, although it looked like we were just messing around, it took quite a bit of planning and preparation. Love that song – not as easy to perform as it seems, so much respect to the fabulous Mr Mathers! Thank you so much for your kind words.

    2. Oh I bet it was a logistical nightmare making that. Yes, he’s a fast talker alright! I love that song too. I watch the video now and then for a laugh. Takes guts to try and imitate that but you totally nailed it. Some funny lines in there too. It’s a keeper 🙂

    3. All things considered, I think we did a pretty reasonable job of it. The track and video were recorded and shot in a day – luckily Paul (Head Porter) is a consulate professional which made things a bit easier. I’m really pleased you enjoyed this, I occasionally revisit it just for a giggle. 🙂

    4. A day is incredible. Must have taken a bit of planning in advance that. I would make a bloody mess of it, plus I’d have to wear a bag over my head and disguise my voice cos I couldnt handle it. But you both did a wonderful job. Makes you wonder what Old Marshall would make of it. To be honest I prefer this to his latest one with Beyoncé!

    5. Well, I don’t think we will be troubling the charts any time soon, but I like to think MM would appreciate our efforts. He is still outstanding but I agree, his latest isn’t the best.

  2. Have been out of it for some time, but looks like Porter Girl is getting bigger and bigger. Love the video btw. Great job!

    1. At this moment recovering from a broken ankle, so I’ll have plenty of free time to do some writing and reading haha. Hope all is well with you.

    2. Hahaha already had a couple of beers today. Definitely not the last ones of the weekend. Cheers!
