I can’t quite see you keeping the gentleman of PorterGirl’s affection under your hat until book seven Lucy – or your lips not open to any favoured one you happen to have had three glasses of wine with – literary speaking that is – you are of course a lady – and a gentleman of distinction in such tantalising proximity would never divulge your secrets! And I wonder about ‘Head of Housekeeping’ – stiff competition maybe – she has a way with sheets!
Goodness! Imagine if Head of Housekeeping was to move in on Deputy Head Porter’s man! There could be feather dusters at dawn, I tell you. To the casual reader, no word of the object of affection will be uttered until the final book. To the more astute reader, things may become clearer before then. To friends and those pouring the wine… it’s true, the secret might be out much sooner!
Indeed!
Ah, intrigue. Anyway, Watkins says (remember him?) that one must never kiss and tell. This has got him out of many scrapes.
How could I forget Watkins! He could yet prove to be the object of desire…
