Lucy Brazier is a British writer, trying to live a quiet life in middle England. Now in her 40s, she has been writing since a very young age, which she finds annoyingly clichéd. She was inspired to try writing ‘properly’ in her teens after reading Oscar Wilde at school and his works remain a strong influence. Lucy also has a great passion for James Joyce and has written books on both Finnegans Wake and Ulysses. She would love to write her own post-modern stream-of-consciousness novel, but is far too introverted and polite.

Aside from writing, Lucy loves cricket, food (both the cooking and the eating of), tea, food, the city of Seville, naps and food again. Having written seven books, she says she is unlikely to write anymore, but probably will. Lucy is very small in real life.

Wow, lady – you certainly have social media marketing DOWN PAT. How do you manage to find the time to write, produce video content, design, populate and manage this site, deal with the ever-changing Facebook format, jump around to visit other blogs (like mine, thanks), and have any degree of non-virtual life?

Don’t you sleep? Are you one of the rare AD(h)D hyperactives with amazing follow-through skills? Or do you command an army of elves? I stand in your shadow. Impressive job!

Well, thank you! It has been a lot of trial and error but I have got into the swing of the whole social media side of things now. It is a lot of work, there is no denying that – but if I am going to do something, I do it to the very best of my ability. I hope to build a career as a writer (eventually!) and the only way to achieve that is hard bloody work. I don’t sleep much, it’s true, and am blessed with an almost obsessive gritty determination, which helps. Also, I just love writing this blog and I am so lucky to have some of the funniest and friendliest readers, which spurs me on. Your appreciation humbles me, lady, I thank you.

I calls ’em like I sees ’em!

Also, it seems from here that you have already built a career as a writer – I’m sure you meant to say a LUCRATIVE career as a writer ::grin:: – and I would say that you are well on your way.

I just hope I finish the book before the movie comes out! (When Hollywood comes knocking, make sure you don’t sign away the subsidiary rights – read the fine print!)

Can’t wait to say I knew you when . . . and don’t forget that my first career was in show-biz (there are no small parts, only small actors lol)

You really are too kind! Well, I have one self-published book out and am soon to release my first ‘traditional’ published book – which is a re-vamped (and hopefully greatly improved!) version of my first effort. I am proud of it, but it is woefully amateur and in desperate need of polishing and epic rewriting. I am progressing and working hard to get better every day.
I shall be asking your advice when Hollywood comes calling! For now, though, we should just enjoy our hot beverages and cookies!

I would be happy to lend some support and information – but by then you will no doubt have agents and attorneys watching your back. I doubt that anything I might say would be needed (except for maybe adding my voice to the positive reviews on Amazon, which I will most happily provide anyway, once I’ve made my way through the Diary)

I DO doubt that any manuscript of yours could be in “desperate” need of polishing – from what I’ve read so far your work seems in pretty good shape (especially for something it’s modest author considers essentially an early draft).

Speaking of hot beverages, I’m off to ‘nuke my coffee.

Goodness, it all sounds rather scary! Your support and wise words shall be very welcome nonetheless. You are a joy to converse with.
      Enjoy your coffee!
